Welcome to the website of the Pike research group. We are synthetic supramolecular group based in the School of Chemistry at the University of Birmingham. Our research focuses on the development of new responsive supramolecular systems.
Foldamers: Synthetic helical oligomers that adopt well-defined secondary structures are termed foldamers. Work in the group focuses on identifying the key factors that govern the conformational behaviour of biomimetic foldamers in solution and the solid state. We employ a range of different spectroscopic techniques to study their folding behaviour including NMR spectroscopy, circular dichroism spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction.
